Will You Adopt Me? Meet Divya - She Found Herself in Dire Straights After Being Abandoned on the Street

Today I'm rounding out my group of Tabby's Place cats for our "Will You Adopt Me? series with a beautiful diva named Divya

Tabby's Place Cat Sanctuary

Divya is another one of my favorite cats at Tabby's. (I say that a lot, don't I?!) Her home is the lobby, and she is proud to be their reception cat. Whenever I want to see her I know I have to go to the reception desk where she is happily greeting visitors.

When Divya found her way to Tabby's in 2014, the medical staff wasn't sure she would make it. Divya lived a happy life as an indoor cat since she was a kitten - until her owner passed away. She was abandoned outside because no one in the family wanted to be responsible for her care. Not knowing how to find food for herself she began to starve, which resulted in the development of fatty liver disease. And in her case, it was quite severe. With all the love and care she received from the staff, Divya made a miraculous, full recovery in a few weeks.

A good-hearted person found Divya collapsed in her backyard and rushed her to the emergency hospital. It was evident that Divya would have a long road to recovery, and luckily she found herself at the sanctuary for her convalescence.

Divya spends most of her day sitting or napping on the reception desk in the lobby of Tabby’s Place. She never misses a meal and is always waiting to greet her morning feeders. Divya does not like to be handled, but she does enjoy gentle head pets (on her terms). She is not particularly fond of other cats but puts up with them as long as they leave her alone.

This beautiful black and white girl is 11 years old and is described as friendly and independent. She would love a forever home where she can enjoy her retirement years and would be a wonderful addition to any family. I have a list of cats that I always look for when I visit, and Divya has a place at the top.

If you're interested in adopting Divya, you can fill out the online adoption application or print out a fillable one.

  1. It breaks my heart to think of how scared Divya must have felt after she was dumped. I think something similar happened to Ellie Mae. Thankfully, the rescue who adopted her out the first time has their name on the microchip too - so they kept her out of the general population of animal control. She was six when we adopted her but it feels like she's been with is forever. I hope Divya finds her happily ever after soon <3

  2. That poor girl! How heartless of the family to just turn her out after having a happy life with her owner. I am glad she made a good recovery and hope she gets a loving forever home.
