Remember Me Thursday is 9/23/2021 - Here's How You Can Participate

Hello, and Happy Thursday Purrsday! Lexy and I are very excited that it's September. Can you guess why? Never mind, I'll just tell you. One of our favorite things to celebrate and participate in, Remember Me Thursday, is right around the corner and we're super excited to partner with Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC) to host the fourth annual Remember Me Thursday Blog Hop. (Don't forget to scroll to the bottom to see how to join.)

We've been participating in the Remember Me Thursday movement since 2016 and hosting the Blog Hop since 2018. This day is very important to us because we want to use our voices to be advocats to save animals in shelters. You can catch up on all of our Remember Me Thursday posts here

Remember Me Thursday 2021

What is Remember Me Thursday?

Some of you may be new readers and may not be familiar with Remember Me Thursday, so let me tell you a little about it.

Remember Me Thursday, now in its eighth year, aims to unite individuals and pet adoption organizations around the world to be an unstoppable, integrated voice for orphan pets in need of forever homes.

According to Mike Arms, President and CEO of Helen Woodward Animal Center, “over a million beautiful, adoptable pets will lose their lives in 2021." That is just way too many lives lost! He goes on to say that “we all come from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, but together, we can raise our voices and share one life-saving message and literally save millions of pets on this one day.”

“My heart breaks for those beautiful people working in animal welfare who are forced to take the lives of the pets they love. I believe lighting a candle for the orphan pets will be a way for people to let the world know how much they love them, and the awareness can help in increasing adoptions and decreasing euthanasia.” - Mike Arms, on why he created Remember Me Thursday.

Celebrity Luminaries

Many celebrities, both two-legged and four-legged, support Remember Me Thursday every year. Some of our favorite humans are Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed, Hannah Shaw, Jackson Galaxy, Dr. Marty Becker, Diane Keaton, Eric Roberts, and Kristin Bauer. And of course, the furry luminaries are exemplary, including Cole and Marmelade, Justin Fire Survivor, Lil Bub, Monty Boy, and My Cat Kyle.

There are lots of social media tools available that you can use, including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook graphics; frame overlays; and printable signs that you can get here. And don't forget to sign up for their blogger newsletter to keep up to date on all the news!

Let's show the world why pet adoption is the way to go!

Light a Candle

Lexy and I are proud to light our candles every year to shine a light on pets who have never found their forever homes. We're so grateful for being rescued off of the streets, and we wish the same for animals everywhere.

On September 23, light your virtual candle here, and share your photos of your candles.
