Cat Pawsitive Pro Program Helps Cats Get Adopted - #RememberMeThursday 2021

One of the things I enjoy about being a writer is having the opportunity to promote pet adoption and encouraging people to support their local shelters and rescues. Although I’m currently not able to physically volunteer at a shelter, be a foster, or do TNR, I can help by volunteering my time writing.

I have been volunteering for the Jackson Galaxy Project’s Cat Pawsitive Pro (CPP) Program for about three years now. For those of you not familiar with CPP, it is a groundbreaking program developed by Jackson Galaxy and a team of animal behavior experts that helps cats in shelters to find their “mojo” and their forever homes. Cat Pawsitive training applies positive, reward-based clicker training that positively reinforces good behaviors which helps cats in many ways. A shy cat can learn to feel comfortable coming to the front of its cage to meet a potential adopter, a feisty cat can learn to play nice, and an outgoing kitty can even learn to give an endearing "high five" to his visitors. The training also reduces the stressors that might keep a cat from connecting with a potential adopter and can help seal the adoption deal.

Monmouth County SPCA Helps Others #SeeTheLight for Shelter Cats - #RememberMeThursday 2020

Ever since I adopted Lola in January 2011, I've made it a point to advocate for shelter cats and encourage adoption. In addition to our blog, I accomplish this through our Facebook page, our book, and through being a contributing writer for the Jackson Galaxy Project's Cat Pawsitive Pro Program. It brings me great joy to write about how shelters and rescues work hard to shine a light on cats who may be considered "unadoptable" so they are not forgotten and forced to live their lives in a shelter setting.

Help Others #SeeTheLight for Rescues on Remember Me Thursday (9/24/2020)

Happy Thursday Purrsday! Lexy and I are purring today because we are excited to be partnering again this year with Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC) to host our annual Blog Hop for Remember Me Thursday.

As former shelter cats who were once forgotten, the Remember Me Thursday movement is very important to us, and we are always proud to shine the light on shelter pets who are waiting for their forever homes.

Will You Adopt Me? Meet Raya and Emily - Two Friendly Senior BFFs.

Hello, and Happy Monday! Adopt A Cat Month continues, and we have two beauties who are currently at Pet Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) in Norwalk, CT to tell you about today. Our great friends Kevin and Tracey from Animal Shelter Volunteer Life posted about them on our blog and we just had to share them, too. Our mom visited PAWS a few years ago and was blown away by the facility and the work they do. (You can read that story here.)

Today we bring you Raya and Emily, two BFFs who were returned to the shelter when their owner could no longer care for them.

Will You Adopt Me? Meet Cinnamon - A Sassy, Smart Lady at Monmouth County SPCA

I’m sure most of you know by now that I am a contributing writer for the Jackson Galaxy Project’s Cat Pawsitive Pro Program. It’s a project that I absolutely love volunteering for because I love seeing cats who were previously considered “unadoptable” find their happy forever homes. From time to time I also form a great relationship with one of my assigned shelters and I love keeping in touch with them. Although the semester is just starting, I’m already forming a wonderful relationship with Monmouth County SPCA in Eatontown, NJ.

When Nina Lucow, their Feline Adoption Manager, sent me a draft of their first report I immediately fell in love with the cat, and knew I just had to share her story on the blog and all over social media to help her find her forever home. I’m elated to introduce you to Cinnamon, a beautiful orange Tabby girl with a little bit of cattitude.

Lola on the Road: The Catcade (Chicago, IL)

Welcome back to "Lola on the Road."  I'm back to bring you another cat café I visited on my trip to Chicago in July for Meow Meetup. It was a little tough fitting in a couple of cafés, but I couldn't leave the Windy City without stopping by them. My second stop was at The Catcade

Women's Animal Center - America's First Animal Shelter!

Since I started this blog in 2014, many exciting opportunities have come my way. One in particular that I was thrilled with was (and still is!) volunteering for the Jackson Galaxy Project as a writer for their Cat Pawsitive Pro Program. One of the first shelters I worked with was Women's Animal Center (WAC) in Bensalem, PA.
