I love a good cat show and convention, and here on the blog, I've written about several that I have attended. I hadn't attended one since July 2019 when I met up with some of my best cat-blogging friends for a weekend in Chicago. When I heard that Loving Cats Worldwide was having a show in my county, complete with a Shopping Village and Rescue Alley, I knew I had to go. I was granted a press pass to the event, and I went to enjoy a day surrounded by people who love cats as much as I do.

Meow Meetup Chicago 2019 - A Fabulous Weekend!
Much to the delight of cat lovers, cat-themed conventions are popping up all over. I've had a lot of fun attending Cat Camp NYC three times, as well as Catsbury Park Cat Convention in NJ. A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending Meow Meet Up Chicago with a group of my great cat blogging friends. Friends, cats, cat-themed merchandise, cat-centric presentations - what could make for a better weekend?

Meow Meet Up 2019 - The Midwest's Premiere Cat Convention
I love attending cat conventions. There’s just something about being in a large space filled with cat lovers that makes my soul happy. I’ve been lucky to have been able to attend Cat Camp three times, as well as Catsbury Park and I’ve always enjoyed myself immensely (and I always come home with bags of goodies! I’m a sucker for cat-themed merchandise.)
A group of cat blogging friends, some of my favorite friends in the world, decided we wanted to get together again so we’ve made plans to meet in Chicago to attend Meow Meet Up. When I was contacted by Lauren Meile, founder of The Catnip Times (a blog I absolutely love!) and Meow Meet Up to talk to my readers about the event, I was more than happy to oblige. I had a lovely conversation with her on the phone as we shared our passion for cats, rescue, and blogging. Her enthusiasm for the event was contagious! (Stay tuned till the end, because there’s a special ticket offer for Lola The Rescued Cat readers!)

Jackson Galaxy's Cat Camp 2019 Returns to NYC!
I love cat themed conventions! An event with hundreds of happy, cat loving people is filled with amazing, positive energy. For a writer, the opportunities for connections and inspirations are boundless. I attended the inaugural Cat Camp NYC in March of 2017 with friends Laura Zaccardi of Squeedunk Cats and Deb Barnes of Zee and Zoey and had the best time! I had been blogging for a little over two years at that point and still wasn't comfortable "putting myself out there." I pushed myself during the event and as a result, I made wonderful connections with wonderful people.

Cat Lovers Unite by the Sea at the Catsbury Park Cat Convention
Cat-themed conventions seem to be popping up all over, much to the delight of cat-loving people. Last year I spent two days at Cat Camp NYC, and this April I attended Catsbury Park Cat Convention (CPCC) in Asbury Park, NJ.

BlogPaws 2018 in Photos
Hello, and Happy Friday! Today I have some BlogPaws Conference photos for you. Taking photos at the conference is not one of Mommy's strong points, but she got a few good ones. I should point out that you will not see photos of the most important guests... the pets! Sigh... OK, I know she was busy with the Ambassador stuff, so I'll let it slide. Paws crossed next year she gets a billion pictures!

BlogPaws 2018 - Love, Change, New Beginnings and Owning Your Awesome
After attending a BlogPaws conference, I always do a round-up post.
Lola and Lexy were “less than impressed” with my posts for the 2015 and 2016 conferences, so I made a concerted effort for 2017 by tapping into the emotional side of the conference and wrote about Four Reasons BlogPaws Made Me Cry.

Plan to Meet The Brands at the 10th BlogPaws Conference
The 10th BlogPaws conference is only 14 days away and I couldn't be more excited! (You can read my previous two posts here and here for more info and tips and tricks.) One of my roles as the Cat-Focused General Ambassador is helping attendees connect with brands. It’s helpful to have a strategy so you can make the best of your time in the exhibit hall.

4 Reasons BlogPaws Made Me Cry
I have always enjoyed attending BlogPaws, and this year in Myrtle Beach, SC was no exception. Each conference has broadened my horizons, given me ideas to improve my blog and social media experiences, and has strengthened existing friendships and formed new ones. The Cat Writer's Association track has provided insight on writing skills and ideas for articles and posts, and this year I was a finalist in their annual Communications Contest in two categories. I was also officially named as treasurer for the association at the member breakfast.
This year BlogPaws touched me in a different way because there was a big focus on rescue and the bond between people and their pets. I try to make this a big part of my blog, and in a world where bloggers are supposed to “find their niche” and “solve their audience’s problems”, BlogPaws's focus on this gives new meaning to my work. Read on to see why I needed several tissues over the course of the weekend.

BlogPaws 2017 or Bust!

Cat Camp NYC - A Cat Lover's Delight
Living in New York City definitely has its perks. Admittedly, at times I am a “jaded New Yorker”, not being able to see past the traffic that takes me an hour to navigate the 10 miles to my office, or the train delays that turn a 50-minute commute into 90 minutes. But when Cat Camp NYC was announced, right here in my backyard, I was happier than ever to live here.

5 Things I Learned from BlogPaws That Improved my Blog
I had never considered starting a blog until I published a book, which needed an “official website” to go along with it. And believe me when I tell you it was a lot harder than I thought! Initially, I intended my blog to be a continuation of Lola’s diary, chronicling her and Lexy’s daily activities, and after seeing what other people were doing with their blogs I wanted to take mine to a different level. But my blog wasn’t getting much attention and I didn’t know how to improve that until I joined BlogPaws®.

The more I got involved with the BlogPaws community, the more I realized a successful blog is more than just posting a photo with a story to go with it. My cats are cute;

A Visit to Koneko Cat Cafe in NYC With CWA Members
On Tuesday I told you about BlogPurr, a wonderful cat writer's event I attended here in NYC. After the sessions were over we ended our day with a visit to Koneko Cat Cafe on the Lower East Side. It was the purrfect end to a purrfect day, and I loved spending quality time with some of my favorite bloggers - and friends!
I only had my cell phone with me that day, so I apologize for the quality of the photos. I took so many and I had a hard time choosing a few for this post.
Koneko is located at 26 Clinton Street between E. Houston (That's "House"-ton) and Stanton. Don't blink, because you may pass it.

BlogPurr Cat Writer's Event in New York City
Last month I was very lucky to be invited to a cat writer's event here in New York City, BlogPurr, sponsored by Merck.
It was a very intimate gathering of ten bloggers, most of whom were friends that I was very happy to get to spend time with again. The speakers included veterinarians and a cat behavior expert, and we discussed topics such as learning the secrets behind common cat behaviors, information on the latest treatment for protecting cats from parasites, making trips to the vet easier for cats, and understanding reasons why cats receive less health care than dogs.
