I'm Having a Lie-In Today

Hello and Happy Thursday! This morning I decided to have a lie in.

That's British, and I learned if from my first ever bestie, Maxibefore he went to the Rainbow Bridge. He was from England.  And since Mommy is obsessed with all things British - especially some guys named Duran Duran (whoever they are) - I thought I'd say something British.

Anyhoo, I'm lying in this morning because it was a busy night.  It started out with me jumping around on the bed.  Mommy thought I was chasing something and got nervous.  She thought maybe I had a bug on the bed or something so she got up and turned on the light.  No bug - it was just me.  I was just practicing my pouncing skills!  A kitty needs to keep her skills sharp and what better time to practice than the middle of the night? But the light interrupted me so I stopped.

Just as we started to get back to sleep, Lexy started meowing.  It was her "I've got something for you, Mother" meow.  Mommy thought maybe she had a bug (she's got this thing with bugs) and got up and turned on the light.  No bug - it was just Lexy sitting in her purse.

The light interrupted her so she stopped meowing.

Lexy is tired, too, from all of the night's activities and is joining me in my lie in.

We need our energy for tonight!

Do you kitties have night time activities?

  1. Your human does worry about bugs, doesn't she? Every morning around dawn, Boodie gets up and catches her favorite toy and walks around with it in her mouth while she screams. My human had no idea because she sleeps through it - but Boodie wakes up her boyfriend every time!

  3. MOL that you got the "I've got something for you" meow for sitting on your purse! Newton makes that meow a lot, and he brings his toys right into bed while the head peep is sleeping.

  4. Oh, the lady loves the way the British say certain things too (and remembers Duran Duran well)!

Lola, you look so pretty having your lie-in. That photo of Lexy on mom's purse is so cute! You two girls best rest up because there is probably more pouncing and fun to be had tonight! Surprisingly, we don't really do night time activities much but Annie has in the past.

  12. Y'know? Now that we're a little older, we sleep most of the night. But occasionally, we do get the night crazies. The mom can tell when she gets up and sees our toys all over the place.

  13. Most of my kittys sleep all night Lola....but....I have a new foster kitty...6 months old and LOUD! Wakes me up in the middle of the night....every night...wanting his wet food! Now remember that I now get up at 3:30am to get ready for my job..which means I go to bed by 8pm. So him waking me up at midnight....well...I get up and feed him! So on my days off....me and the rest of the gang have a lie in!

  17. TW is infactuated by bugs too but one night I did catch one on her bed. A mothy thing. TW saw Duran Duran’s first NYC show at the Savoy and she met Andy Warhol there. Believe it or not, she didn’t even like them. She went to see the opening band, Way of the West. Who remembers them? HAH!

  18. You two are so cute! I'm glad that you are keeping your pouncing skills sharp and that Lexi found your mom's purse for her (even if it wasn't missing). Cinco and Manna do have a lot of fun at night. Manna will make sure that her toys know who's boss. Cinco is a little more subtle most of the time, but he likes to get a good run in.

  19. So, did your mom get to have a lie-in too after you kept her awake? We usually sleep through the night. Mom is such an early riser that she is usually up before us. Plus, we know we don't get fed until she's had her coffee so we don't bother her until after that.

  20. It sounds like you two kept your mom busy that night. She probably needed a nap the day after, too!
