Sisterly Love

Hello and Happy Tuesday! I have a very old post to share with you today. How old is it, you ask? Well.... it was way before we even had a blog! This little post goes all the way back to 2011 when we were only on Facebook. I hope you like it!

April 26, 2011:
Lexy and I still aren't best friends (as you all know), but Mommy says we tolerate each other and that's OK.  We have had a few special moments, which I wanted to re-cap for you!

To be honest, Lexy and I didn't get along very well back then. Will would come over and cat sit when Mommy had school (she was in massage school way back then), and when she went somewhere she didn't stay out very long. Wow! Sometimes it's even hard to remember those times. Today Lexy and I still aren't cuddly friends, but we respect each other and Mommy can go out and not worry.

Do all of your pets get along?

  1. Kitties don't need to be the best of friends to live together in peace. That was sort of the way things were a lot with Sparkle and Binga.

  2. Hi you two! I enjoyed seeing these pictures, especially the last one and the one of you in the window. It is interesting how things can change over time. Thankfully, there were positive changes here too, finally, after about a year after we adopted Pierrot.

  3. I'm glad that you two at least tolerate each other! Olive and Sophie barely do that!

  4. I love those pictures. I know what you mean about not being gone long. Bear and Kitty were ALWAYS fighting or hissing and I didn't want to leave them alone for more than an hour - if that. Sometimes though, I think it was probably worse when I was around (Kitty was always in the same room as me - and Bear was a velcro kitty so they saw more of each other) and now that I know more about Bear, it's possible his interactions with Kitty were more about getting my attention. Still ... their interactions made everyone miserable and it hurt so much that the two kitties I loved most in the world couldn't even have peace. Eventually, they did find a fragile peace - and then Kitty got really sick. I love that these pictures show Lexy and Lola in parallel activities ... they are both doing their things - but next to each other. I've read that that's the best way to teach them to at least tolerate each other. The problem in our house was that Kitty and Bear didn't enjoy the same things (Kitty loved watching birds ... Bear was scared of them; Kitty didn't play so much any more ...) so it was hard to find something that encouraged them to spend time in proximity - together - but not together, if you know what I mean.

  6. We would have never known you two don't get along well. Those pictures make it look like you do. We get along for the most part...well, 'cept Zoey who's afraid of her own shadow.

  8. Glad you 2 cuties get along mostly now. I have found calming collars very helpful in helping Sammy tolerate Brody.

  10. It looks like you two are doing pretty well, but it took a long time, didn't it? Right now we are down to four cats - two boys and two girls. The boys get along, eat together, play together. The older girl keeps them in their place and is top cat. The younger girl has only been here about three weeks and is starting to relax. At first she swatted at the other three cats, but we have caught her playing with the boys when she thinks we are not looking, and one day she was sitting right up next to one of them. She and he are both all black, so it was hard to see where one cat started and the other ended!

  11. I love blast-from-the-past posts. Sometimes we fur kids aren't meant to be BFF's, because our main job is to be Best Fur Kids to our pawrents. But it's nice that you and Lexy are cohabitating more peacefully these days.

  14. Super cute picture. I love your rug by the way! We all get along pretty well in our house. Rosie and sometimes Lulu (our bunny) get a little boss with Ruby once in awhile - but not very often.
