A Tribute to a Rose

If you've been following our blog for a while now, you know that I've been sponsoring special needs cats at Tabby's Place for several years. And you may remember Lexy and Lola mentioning their sponsor sister, Rose, from time to time.

On the 15th of every month, sponsors receive an update on their special cat. When we get an update before the 15th, it's rarely good news.

Tabby’s Place is Saving Cats with FeLV

If you’ve been following my blog for a good amount of time, you know that I have a long-standing relationship with Tabby’s Place in Ringoes, NJ. Tabby’s is to me what Disneyland is to a lot of people; one of my favorite places. I first visited the sanctuary in 2011 and have continued to visit and support them over the years. It has been exciting to see Tabby’s grow in leaps and bounds over the past 11 years, and they haven’t stopped. Today I’m thrilled to tell you about their new project, Quinn’s Corner, a haven for cats infected with feline leukemia virus (FeLV.)

Hello, and Happy Friday! I'm so excited! Can you guess why? Never mind, I'll just tell you. Today we have a very special rescue story for you. Our sponsor sister at Tabby's Place, Rose, is sharing her story with all of you.  Her dedicated correspondent, Ilene, helped her put it together and it's just fabulous! We just love Rose to pieces and bits and we're happy to share this very brave and strong-willed (and cute!) girl with you. Without further ado I present our beautiful Rosie!

Hello, everyone. This is Lexy checking in on a very special day. It's my 10th Gotcha Day! Well, my Gotcha Day is actually in  April, but with the COVID-19 Pandemic and New York being on "pause" we didn't' get to celebrate it publicly. Until now, that is!

Give a Cat From Tabby's Place Their Forever Home -#RememberMeThursday 2019

Today is a very important day in the rescue/advocacy world. Today is Remember Me Thursday, a day where light is shined on and attention is brought to pets in rescues and shelters waiting for their forever homes. It stresses the importance of animal adoption because 2.7 million orphan shelter pets lose their lives without ever finding their forever homes. Alarmingly, only 30% of household pets in the U.S. come from rescue facilities. Only 30%! That number is disturbing to me. There are so many shelters and rescues in the country that are at full capacity, and cannot take in another animal. That means that animal will most likely remain on the street.

Thanksgiving 2018 With the Cats at Tabby's Place

This past Saturday I attended the second annual Thanksgiving With The Cats at Tabby's Place in Ringoes, NJ. I had made a last minute decision on Friday night to go because I had a very large cat tree to donate and I needed to make room in my living room for my Christmas tree. And also because I missed last year's festivities, and, of course, I wanted to see the kitties (including my sponsor cat, Rose.)

Jackie - In Memoriam of a Special Cat at Tabby's Place

The first time I visited Tabby’s Place in April of 2011 I met Jackie and immediately fell in love with her. I was warned that she can be feisty and to be careful petting her, and for some reason that made me more intrigued with her. She was not afraid to let everyone know that if you wanted to interact with her, you had to do it on her terms. She was a girl of conviction.

Selfie Sunday With a Tabby's Place Kitty

Hello and Happy Sunday! We haven't participated in Selfie Sunday in a while, but we're back - with a special guest! Not long ago Mommy went to visit Tabby's Place in NJ and when she was there she asked a very special kitty to pose for a selfie.

Raja is a long time resident of Tabby's who Mommy fell in love with in 2011, and during her visit she asked Raja if she would like to sit for a selfie. Mommy had a copy of our book with her and Raja was excited to pose with it.

Forgotten Felines at Tabby's Place - Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet Week

Hello and happy Friday! I’m here to bring you our third post in our “Adopt A Less Adoptable Pet” week series.  Today I’m presenting some of the “Forgotten Felines” at Tabby’s Place.  If you’ve seen our other post on the sancuary here you already know that Tabby’s is one of Mommy’s favorite places on earth and she’s met many of these cats.  Now, to be considered a “forgotten feline” means that the cat has been there 5+ years. That right… I said 5+ years! *shakes head* That’s way too long to be looking for your forever home if you ask me.

First up is Mango.
