A (Sort of) BlogPaws 2016 Roundup

Hello and Happy Thursday! Mommy is home from BlogPaws and we asked her for the whole scoop! She did a little better than last year (that report was very disappointing!) and this is what we got from her this year:

Everything started out with a wedding!

BlogPaws 2016 or Bust!

Hello and Happy Tuesday! Mommy is headed off to BlogPaws in Phoenix tomorrow, so we won't be blogging, Facebooking, or visiting friends until she gets back.

It's possible that she'll post something from the conference, but I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you.  She didn't do a great job of reporting on last year's events, as you can see from this post.  She's learned a lot since then, so maybe we'll get a better report this time around.

We have a couple of things to leave you with before the BlogPaws break.

First, Mommy will be doing a book signing at the conference! She'll be at the CWA table on Thursday from 2:30 pm  to 5:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  She'll also be there on Friday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Please stop by and say hello, Mommy would love to meet you. We will be donating all of our proceeds from the sale of our book to Catopia Feline Rescue of Arizona.  Miss Shonda, the president of Catopia, wrote a blurb for the back cover of our book and Mommy is very excited to get to meet her in person!

Second, I was interviewed by Kristian over at SoPurrfect.com

International Box Day - 2016

Hello everyone! This is Lexy checking in on my absolute FAVE holiday of the year; International Box Day! I praise the Box Gods on this day for bringing me one of my most favored things in the world. This year I chose a photo that I believe depicts my gratitude for not only boxes but for this day of celebration.  I hope you like it as much as I do.

If you'd like to see my post from last year, you can see it here.  Are you celebrating today?

What it's Like to be a Foster Carer for Cats - A Guest Post From Sopurrfect.com

Hello and Happy Thursday Purrsday! We've really got something to purr about today! Kristian Taylor of SoPurrfect.com is doing a guest post today!  Kristian is a self proclaimed cat lover whose mission is to create the best possible cat experience for his readers by building an online community around cats.  Today he is sharing his views and feelings on what it's like to foster cats. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. You can visit the So Purrfect family at their blog,  on Facebook, Twitter, and you can also follow the So Purrfect cats, Shadow and Frosty on Instagram. What's It Like To Be a Foster Carer for Cats

Fostering cats can be an experience that is truly rewarding with the knowledge that you are making a difference. This is by offering the hope of life to sad cats that would somehow be euthanized in kill asylums. Seeing those adorable, cherishing eyes that find superb assenting families makes it worth every second. When you foster, you agree to take a destitute cat into your home and give him or her adoration, attention and care, either for a fixed time-frame or until the cat is adopted.

You should expect to commit to between a couple of weeks to a couple of months. However, every condition is a little bit different. Most little cats are ready to be altered and adopted at around 8-9 weeks of age. If you are fostering a mother cat as well, you can hope to add a couple of weeks to permit the mother's milk to go away and for her to recuperate from her spay process. If you are fostering more old little cats, you might just have them a couple of weeks until they are ready to go to the adoption centre.

My Cat Fainted and She Couldn't Get up! Vasovagal Syncope in Cats

A few months ago I had an experience with Lola that frightened me beyond words. I heard her meowing and knew she was going to vomit; which she doesn’t do that often. (Cat parents will understand that I know the differences in my cats’ meows and what they mean.) When I went to check on her she got startled and she bolted for the other room. Then she started retching heavily and finally vomited, and as soon as she did her limbs became stiff and she fell over onto her side and fainted. She tried to get up and fell over again.

I panicked. I started calling her name and when she was not very responsive I thought she was dying. I panicked again. Then in a matter of a few minutes I had her in the carrier and I was on the way to the emergency vet. (I opted for the emergency vet because it could take me an hour or more in traffic to get to my regular vet.) When she started voicing her displeasure at being in the carrier and was singing the song of her people in the car, I knew she was improving. (I didn't take the time to film this video below on the way to the emergency vet. I filmed it on a different day, but the song is always the same!)

A Small Break

Hello and Happy Thursday Purrsday!

tabby cat

I'm here to tell you today that we will be offline for several days.  Mommy is going away because our human cousin (her niece) is graduating from college. This is exciting! We know we haven't been posting much lately, but we do try to visit some of our friends' blogs every day.  We'll be back to visiting soon!

We are going to do our Caturday Night Meow on our Facebook page this week because we can schedule the post in advance.  We hope you'll join us at 8:00 PM on Caturday!

See you all soon!

Lexy's Favorite Hiding Spot

Hello everyone. Today I'm telling you about one of my favorite hiding spots.  Here is a photo of me sitting in Mother's armoire.  How do I get in there, you ask? I figured out how to open the door with my nails.  Once the door is open I take out some of the clothes to make room, and then I move around some other pieces of clothing to make a comfortable bed.

Sometimes when Mother can't find me she'll see a pile of clothes on the floor and she'll know where I am.  I love it in here! It's my own private hideaway, my lair.

Do you have a favorite hiding place?

P.s. Yes, I do get hair all over Mother's clothes.

A City Kitty's View of the World

Hello and Happy Friday! As you know, Lexy and I are city cats. Now, some may think that when we sit in our windows we only see a concrete jungle, but that's not true.  Lexy and I have lots of trees, birds and squirrels to watch.

This is the view from our kitchen window.  We have lots of trees to see. What you can't see from this angle is the neighbor's yard, with even more interesting stuff.  See that balcony right there on the left? We have a doggie friend that lives there and when he comes out we sit and watch each other.
