A Year Without Lola

Today marks one year since Lola left this earthly plane and made her transition. Grief has an interesting effect on time. This year has passed at lightning speed and dragged at a snail’s pace simultaneously. Grief also has an interesting effect on memory. Her last day with me is as vivid as if it happened today, but at the same time, I feel like I struggle to recount the details of our last moments together.

The Essence of Lola

One month ago today I had to say goodbye to my beautiful Lola. It's still unfathomable to me that Lola The Rescued Cat is gone. Her larger-than-life personality and joie de vivre, rivaling any human's, should have given her 20 lives. Or at least more time than only 13 1/2 years on this earthly plane.

Having a bond as deep and close as the one I shared with her made the decision to let her go infinitely harder because I felt like a piece of me was leaving with her.  For a while I knew we were living on borrowed, limited time. I also knew that I would miss her deeply when the time came, but I didn’t realize how deep the grief would be.

Lola The Rescued Cat: June, 2010 - January 16, 2024

Hello, friends. I wasn't quite sure how to start this post since Lola always says, with her exuberant spirit, "Hello, and Happy Purrsday!" Unfortunately, it is with a very heavy heart that I have to tell you that Lola's exuberant spirit has left her body and she has earned her angel wings.

Miracles Do Happen! Lola's Recovery

Lola: Hello, and Happy Sunday! It is a Happy Sunday indeed! I am over the moon to be here today to share the good news of the improvement in my health. Just three weeks ago I posted that I wasn't doing well, and I didn't think I had much time left with my family and my friends. But miracles do happen, and not only am I still here, I'm doing much better. Let me fill you in.

To catch up on all of the details, you can read my first post and then the second. I am one lucky kitty, let me tell you, because I had more purrs from humans and pets than I could even count.

Many thanks to Miss Ann of Zoolatry for this pawesome graphic.

An Update on My Health 11-12-23

Hello, friends. I usually start my posts with "Hello, and Happy (whatever day it is!), but today's post is a little serious. I'm afraid I have some not so good news to share with you about my health. Over the nine years we have been blogging we have read many posts about pets' health issues and have dreaded the day when we had to share some serious news as well. I'm afraid that day is today.

What We've Been Up To - An Update

Lola: Hello, and Happy Thursday! Boy, it has been a long time since I've meowed with all of you! And I have to say, I've missed our friends so much. A lot has been going on in our lives, and we finally have the time to give you a little update. We've tried writing this post before and it was very long. So we're going to do our best to keep it short.

We're Back! And We Moved!

Lola: Hello, and Happy Purrsday! Oh, I've so missed all of our friends! Our lives have been so busy that our heads have been absolutely spinning.

Lexy: Hello from me, too! I've missed blogging more than I imagined I would. And yes, our heads are spinning. Well, Mother's head is mostly spinning, and if it weren't for Alexa and Siri, she wouldn't know what day it is.

Lola: But we've got some very exciting news!

Lexy: As you can tell from the title of this post, we have moved. We are no longer city cats. Mother, Lola, and I have packed up and moved to the suburbs.

Cat World Domination Day 2021

Hello, and Happy Thursday Purrsday! Today Lexy and I are celebrating Cat World Domination Day with our good pal, Summer. Today is a day to celebrate how cats dominate the world! Lexy and I thought about it, and we decided that since we dominated our mom's home office throughout the pandemic we would share some of our favorite work at home moments.

It's My 10th Gotcha Day! And I'm Having a Giveaway!

Hello, and Happy Monday! I'm very excited because I'm celebrating my 10th Gotcha Day! Okay, it was actually a couple of days ago, but I wanted to post this on a Monday so more people would see it.

Time sure flies, because it feels just like yesterday that I came home forever. I was only about seven months old, and now I'm a mature cat (almost to be considered a senior! *shudder*) My life has been pretty amazing, and I'm grateful for every single moment of it. Mommy, Lexy, and I have accomplished so much and have helped so many cats and people over the past decade, and we're hoping to continue for the next ten years!

Don't worry, Lexy and I are still busy keeping Mommy on track. Here's a peek into what we've been up to. (Don't forget to click on the photos to see the post on Instagram.)
