Book Review: Heroic, Helpful and Caring Cats: Felines Who Make a Difference by Anne E. Beall

Today I am very excited to tell you about a wonderful book Heroic, Helpful and Caring Cats; Felines Who Make a Difference, that I am honored to be featured in along with Lola.

I met The author, Anne E. Beall, Ph.D., in July 2019 when I attended Meow Meet Up in Chicago. In her workshop, “How Cats Help Humans”, Anne shared her foray into the world of rescue and advocacy by telling the audience how she became a managed colony caretaker with Tree House Humane Society in Chicago through their Cats at Work program. When Anne asked attendees to share personal stories about how their cats help them and have made a difference in their lives, I knew I had to share Lola’s story with her.

Book Review: Prancie's Prayer by Ellen J. Pilch. A Purrfect Gift For Cat Lovers

I was very excited when I heard that Ellen J. Pilch of 15 and Meowing published a children’s book. I love her blog, her writing style, and her creativity. I couldn’t wait to read it, and I wasn’t disappointed.

Bookstore Cats by Brandon Schultz - Review and Giveaway!

This post contains affiliate links, meaning, if you click through and make a purchase, I may earn a commission. This is at no additional cost to you.

Two of my favorite things are cats and books. I could spend hours in a bookstore perusing the shelves and getting lost in a story. Add a cat to the mix and I’d have to get kicked out at closing time! There’s something comforting and cozy about being in a bookstore with a cat, and Brandon Shultz brings this to life in his book, Bookstore Cats

Kitty Karma Books Helps Cats In Need

Today I am so pleased to bring to you a guest post by Wai-Lin Terry, Founder & Publisher of Kitty Karma Books. If you're a regular reader of this blog, you already know that rescue is a topic near and dear to my heart because the stars of this blog, Lola and Lexy, are two rescued cats who changed my life. When Wai-Lin contacted me about her book I was more than happy to spread the word. The first phase of her Indiegogo Campaign ends  on 10/31/17, but you still have time to check out her pawtastic perks.

I, for one, cannot wait to read this book. As an author and a cat advociate, I wish Wai-Lin much success with her project.

Kitty Karma Books Aims to Fund Shelters for Abandoned, Unwanted Cats in Need

Kitty Karma Books|Wai-Lin Terry
“They say cats choose us, we don’t choose them. I believe that cats, with their nine lives and their super-fine senses, are able to see things beyond this world and are more wired to divine will than we humans are. We can ignore a cat’s blessing and beckoning, but at our peril.

I learned these lessons from adopting one special calico cat. I thought I rescued this little feline, but in the end, it was she who rescued me.”

That’s how the closing chapter of Kitty Karma: Big Stories of the Small Cats Who Change Our Lives begins. (More about the book in a moment.) It’s my account of the calico beauty who adopted me. Kealani taught me much during the years she graced my life. Her lessons included a tour through the depths of despair, after she suffered a heart attack and died right in front of me.

Champy Pants the Blind Siamese Kitty - A Book Review AND a Rescue Story!

Hello and Happy Thursday! I'm back with another great tail tale in our Rescue Stories series. But it's not only a rescue story, it's a book review, too! Our friend, Champy Pants the Blind Siamese Kitty, wrote a book about his experience. Read on to see how Champy ended up at the same shelter I did, and how his Mom fell in love with him when she saw him on Facebook (just like mine did!), and Mommy's review of his book.  We know you'll love it!

Lola and Lexy's Book List for Christmas Gifts

Lola: Hello and Happy Tuesday! With Christmas upon us, Lexy and I thought it would be a great idea to put together a little list of pawesome gifts. Hey that rhymed!

Lexy: Very cute, Lola! Since we are book lovers here at the White House, we put together a collection of books that we enjoyed.  There were SO many that we’ve read and it was hard to just pick a few (and they are in no particular order.)  So, without further ado, I present Lola and Lexy’s Book List for Christmas Gifts.

To Catch A Cat - Book Review and Giveaway

I love books about cat rescue.  The story becomes more alluring to me when the act of rescuing and the cats themselves makes a life turning impact on a person.  Add in the fact that the author is a former New York City girl who viewed the trek into New Jersey to visit her boyfriend less than pleasurable (I have said on more than one occasion “Oh geez, I have to go to Jersey?”) and the book is a must read for me. (Disclaimer: It has nothing to do with New Jersey… it’s the traffic on the way!) So I was delighted when I was offered the opportunity to review To Catch A Cat – How Three Stray Kittens Rescued Me by Heather Green.
