Lola and Lexy's Christmas Shelter Project

Hello and Happy Saturday! Today I'd like to tell you about a little project Lexy and I started a couple of years ago on Facebook. (We've recently learned that there are similar projects in the Blogosphere, which we did not know about. Last year at this time we were brand new to blogging didn't know many blogs.)

We named our project "Lola and Lexy's Christmas Shelter Project".  Over the past five years we have made so many friends on Facebook, and we have sent and received SO many Christmas gifts! I mean, we have gotten A LOT of gifts. We are so very blessed that our Mom is able to provide us with everything we could possibly need, so we started this page to encourage others to give to rescues, shelters, and people with animals in need. We're very proud that we have inspired several of our Facebook friends to participate or even start little projects of their own to give back to the rescue community!

If you go to the photo section on our FB page, you will find a list of shelters that you can donate to this year. If you would like to add a shelter, please post it to our wall or email us at lolatherescuedcat@gmail.com.

We also have a note in our Notes section with a list of possible things you can donate to a shelter/rescue. And of course, you can check the shelter's website for their Wish Lists.

AND... if you donate to any shelter, please post a photo of your donations to our wall so we can share it! Our friends over at The Cat On My Head have donated to Angels of Assisi. And Smoky Pino bought two things for Catopia Feline Rescue off of their wish list.  How pawesome is that??!!

Mommy will be bringing a bunch of stuff to Tabby's Place again this year, and we will also be donating to Oliver's Orphan Oasis, Catopia, and Hudson Valley Humane Society (where Lexy was adopted from).

Lexy and I remember that Christmas in the shelter was so lonely, (in my book I wrote "I don't think Santa is going to come to this place.  I think all of us kitties here are forgotten"), and we want to bring cheer to other kitties so they don't feel forgotten.

If you'd like, you can grab our badge to help spread the word:

Many thanks to Miss Ann of Zoolatry
for our graphics!

No matter which project you choose to participate in, the important thing is that we're all helping shelter animals.
Lola and Lexy

Tonight is Caturday and we're holding our weekly Caturday Night Meow over at our Facebook Page. Come meow with us! We start at 8:00 pm, but you can meow at whatever time you want!

  1. What an awesome project! And I'm so glad you are doing this because my human has just been too busy to organize the Santa Kitty Toy Hop like she did last year.

  3. This is such a wonderful idea! I try to donate items to my local shelters when I am able. I know shelter kitties always need things like food and litter. I love donating toys when I can because I know they don't have a lot of toys in the shelters for the kitties to play with. I will try to donate something this year in memory of my sweet Jewel.

  5. We did Angels of Assisi in Roanoke last year for our Christmas shelter and will again this year, but have not taken items yet. Mom's already been buying them. We will be taking closer to Christmas. Since we don't do Facebook, we can't attend your Caturday Night Meow, but we must tell you girls how cute you look in your outfits. Hope to see one of you at Sunday Selfies tomorrow. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  6. What a wonderful thing you are doing. I'm out of green papers right now as we have donated to a couple of other places too. Thank you for doing this. We'll probably be back next week with a few green papers.

  7. We tried to grab your shelter badge from your post and from your sidebar so we could add it to our sidebar to link to your post. It can not be opened on our computer - not from any program or viewer. We don't out why, but every program including the Windows viewer says it can not be opened. :(

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

  11. It makes me so happy when I see kitties of "influence" doing things to support shelters and rescues. We will be donating to our local rescue that works hand-in-hand with our shelter.

  14. I am so proud of you girls and all you do to help kitties in need through your book, blog, FB page, sponsoring a kitty at Tabby's Place and your Shelter Project. What an inspiration you are to come from such a dire situation to a loving home and success in animal rescue awareness! We have followed your lead over the years and on Angel Ms. Phoebe's birthday donate food, toys, and supplies to our local shelter where she adopted me. This time of year we have decided to do the same for the all volunteer local rescue that saves cats with special needs- one of which was our Clove. We will take a picture of the items and post it on your page when we get it ready to deliver!
